Features

Tables to cells

Rows and columns are found from the lines of the table, or from how the text lines up when there are no lines.

Real numbers

Amounts, quantities and percentages become numbers you can add up, sort and use in formulas.

Photos and screenshots

A tilted or unevenly lit photo is straightened and evened out before it is read; small screenshots are enlarged.

Several pictures

Choose many pictures at once: one sheet per picture, or all on one sheet.

Handwriting too

Choose Handwritten for tables and notes written by hand. Numbers, dates and neat block letters are read best.

English, Bengali, Hindi

Printed text is read in all three languages; handwriting in English.

Private

Your pictures are read inside your browser and never uploaded.

When to use it

Tables often reach you as pictures: a photo of a printed price list, a screenshot of a report, a scanned bill or a picture sent on a chat app. Typing them into Excel by hand takes long and invites mistakes. Images to Excel reads the picture for you and lays the text out in cells like the picture, so you only check it and start working with the numbers. It suits invoices, receipts, statements, timetables, mark sheets and price lists.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is it?

On clear pictures nearly every cell is read correctly, but text recognition can still mistake a character, especially in small, blurred or handwritten text. Always check the workbook before you rely on it, above all the amounts.

How do I get the best result?

Take the photo straight from above in good light, let the table fill most of the picture and keep it sharp. A screenshot is better than a photo of a screen.

Which pictures can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP pictures. On an iPhone, photos are handed over as JPG automatically.

Can it read handwriting?

Yes: choose Handwritten before you convert. Handwritten numbers, dates and neat block letters are read well; joined-up (cursive) writing is harder and needs more checking. Handwriting is read in English. The handwriting reader (about 23 MB) is downloaded the first time and then kept by your browser.

Can I convert several pictures at once?

Yes. Choose them together; each becomes a sheet, or all go on one sheet if you choose that.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. They are read inside your browser, on your own device.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no account, no limit and no watermark.
