How to Edit and Sign a PDF Online for Free

How to edit a PDF, step by step

Open your PDF. Drop it on the home page or choose Editor & Sign.
Pick a tool in the top bar:
- Text: click on the page to add a text box. Choose the font, size, bold, italic, underline and colour.
- Highlight: drag over a line. The pointer shows exactly how tall the highlight will be, and you can pick its colour and size.
- Eraser: rub out highlights and drawings.
- Whiteout: click to place a white box over text you want to hide or replace.
More tools on the right include Draw (free-hand pen), Stamps (Approved, Confidential and more) and Image.
Move and resize any box by dragging it or its corner. Drag a box around several items to select them together.
Check your changes. Every edit is listed under Applied Edits. Click one to see where it is, or remove it with ×. Undo and Redo are at the top left.
Save PDF to download the edited copy.

How to sign a PDF

Open Sign under More Tools.
Draw your signature with the mouse, finger or stylus, or type your name and choose a handwriting style.
Place it on the page, then drag and resize it to fit the signature line.
Save the PDF.

Is a signature added this way legally valid?

A drawn or typed signature is a simple electronic signature, accepted for many everyday agreements. Some documents require a certified digital signature; check what the recipient needs.

Can I change the existing text of a PDF?

You can cover it with whiteout and type new text on top, which works well for small corrections.

Is my document private?

Yes. Editing happens in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
