How to Translate a PDF into Bengali, Hindi or English
Rental agreements, school notices, government letters and product manuals often arrive in a language that is not the reader's first one. PDFMasala's Translate PDF tool translates documents between English, Bengali (বাংলা) and Hindi (हिन्दी), using the translator built into the Google Chrome browser, so the document stays on your device.
How to translate a PDF, step by step
- Open Translate PDF in Google Chrome on a computer.
- Choose your PDF. Each page appears with a small picture and its original text.
- Check the languages. Auto detect recognises English, Bengali and Hindi from the letters used and shows what it found. Choose the language to translate into.
- Click Translate. The first time you use a pair of languages, Chrome downloads a language pack once.
- Follow the progress. Each part of the translation appears beside the original as soon as it is ready. You can cancel at any time.
- Save the result when every page is done: copy it, download it as a text file, or preview and download it as a PDF.
Bengali and Hindi PDFs
Many Bengali and Hindi PDFs do not store their text in a readable order: vowel signs are kept before their letters and joined letters can be missing. If text were copied from such a file directly, the translation would be nonsense. PDFMasala detects these pages and reads them with text recognition (OCR) from a picture of the page first, so the translator receives clean, correct text. Scanned PDFs are read the same way; for a scan, choose the language of the PDF yourself.
Tips for better translations
- Clear, well-printed documents give the best results. Very large decorative headings are sometimes misread.
- Machine translation is good for understanding a document, but have important legal or medical documents checked by a person who knows both languages.
- To keep only certain pages, split the PDF first with Split PDF.
Frequently asked questions

Does the translated PDF keep the original layout?
No. It contains the translated text page by page. Pictures and the original design are not carried over.
