How to Change the Title, Author and Keywords of a PDF
Every PDF carries hidden details. A file made from a template may still show an old title or the name of a previous author. Document Properties lets you check and change these details before you share the file.
Change the properties, step by step
- Open Document Properties and choose your PDF.
- Read the file details: page count, size and the current properties.
- Edit the title, author, subject, keywords or creator.
- Save the PDF to download a copy with the new properties.
What each field is for
- Title: shown by browsers and PDF readers in place of the file name.
- Author: who made the document. Clear it to remove an old name.
- Subject: what the document is about.
- Keywords: words separated by commas, to help search and filing.
